Editorial Operations Assistant, GQ
Overview/Purpose:
GQ is looking for an editorial operations assistant to support the GQ Editorial Operations team, including the Global Director of Editorial Operations, Editorial Operations Manager, and Digital Managing Editor. Ideal candidates will have a passion for GQ and previous experience at a major publication. Candidates should be extremely organized, efficient multi-taskers, and most importantly self-starters with a strong interest in helping a large editorial team function effectively. This role reports directly to the Global Director of Editorial Operations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
GQ is looking for an editorial operations assistant to support the GQ Editorial Operations team, including the Global Director of Editorial Operations, Editorial Operations Manager, and Digital Managing Editor. Ideal candidates will have a passion for GQ and previous experience at a major publication. Candidates should be extremely organized, efficient multi-taskers, and most importantly self-starters with a strong interest in helping a large editorial team function effectively. This role reports directly to the Global Director of Editorial Operations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support the Global Editorial Operations Director with administrative needs, including but not limited to coordinating meetings, preparing for presentations, conducting research and more.
- Process all editorial invoices and advances
- Track and monitor content costs
- Draft, process and track writer contracts
- Initiate and track new photography contracts
- Manage all editorial rights inquiries
- Oversee office administrative tasks, such as ordering supplies, maintaining contact lists, vacation calendars, advising on technology issues and more
- Support new hire on-boarding (tech set-up, etc)
- Arrange travel for writers as needed

- Analytical problem-solving skills
- Extremely organized
- Ability to prioritize, work well under pressure, and adhere to tight deadlines
- Previous experience (internship or entry-level) at a major publication
The expected base salary range for this position is from $56,000 - $60,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
