Education Associate Job at Crocker Art Museum
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
The Crocker Art Museum brings people together and connects them in unexpected ways with art, ideas, each other, and the world around them. This position helps fulfill this by providing high level administrative support for the Education Department. The person in this position serves as the primary liaison between the Museum and program attendees; scheduling group visits (guided and unguided) for school, adult, and community groups), assisting class and program participants in registration or ticket purchase, and working with docents (volunteer tour guides) and others in the smooth implementation of Departmental offerings.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Support day to day tasks in the Education Department by providing a full range of business services including drafting correspondence, writing contracts, filing record keeping, processing invoices, maintaining department calendar, and placing supply orders.
- Provide impeccable customer service as the main point of contact between patrons and the department.
- Support patrons in registering for programs.
- Book all tours, ensuring that tour schedules are accurate and communicated with docents and other stakeholders.
- Maintain all departmental records and statistics and helps prepare department reports.
- Prepares docent schedules, training course material and continuing education handouts as needed.
- Assists in maintaining al databases within the education department.
- Assists with all departmental activities and events, such as Docent Open House, Winterfest, Prep parties, etc., as needed.
- Maintains departmental database on offerings and participants.
- Helps maintain interactive Museum spaces designed for families, including Tot Land and other spaces.
- Other duties as needed.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of an Associate degree and 2 years of customer care and office experience. A combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Experience with database and project management software packages
- Working knowledge of graphic design principles
- Ability to work positively with a variety of personality types
- Excellent Customer Service Skills - ability to keep a positive and glowing attitude in all situations when working with others on the phone and in person.
- Attention to details; ability to work under deadline; ability to follow through on long and short-term projects.
- Ability to write in clear and concise manner; ability to edit.
- Great communications skills both one-on-one and to large groups (public speaking)
- Must be able and available to work a varied schedule, including occasional nights and weekends.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and walk; sit for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee must have dexterity required to access remote spaces (roof, crawl spaces, etc.) as well as ability to lift and move items of various weights and sizes. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
