Responsible for the development, coordination, execution, and monitoring of clinical education for the Maternity Services Departments of KRMC. Responsible for developing and implementing department specific orientation programs and assisting in hospital wide general orientation. The Maternity Services Education Coordinator plans and implements on-going continuing education requirements for annual competencies of staff in the Maternity Services Departments as well as education for new procedures, practices, and specialties. Responsible for facilitating educational opportunities for staff to maintain and expand their professional development. Planning and designing evidence based education that benefits clinicians in all stages of their career. Responsible for collaborating with the Quality Manager and Clinical Education Manager, as well as other department Managers to develop plans to implement and monitor Performance Improvement activities. Coordinates and implements other educational items as assigned and provides input to processes and quality measures to increase awareness and skill levels in order to facilitate positive patient outcomes, safety, and employee satisfaction at each opportunity throughout the facility.


Responsible for the development and implementation of childbirth classes for patients and their support person. Helping to educate patients’ and their families’ in the birth process and care of their infant. Facilitating the courses and collaborating with appropriate resources to increase their knowledge on childbirth process. Responsible for obtaining and organizing patient education material.


Provides direct patient care as needed. The Maternity Services Education Coordinator will be oriented to and trained in Maternity Services Departments in order to facilitate relationships with all staff members and to gain knowledge in the different areas and service lines.


The Maternity Services Education Coordinator continuously consults with staff, physicians, other department Managers, Chief Nursing Officer on methods to meet and maintain regulations and standards related to patient care.

Education/Experience:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with a BSN. MSN Preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse Licensure in the state of Nebraska.
  • A minimum of two (2) years nursing experience in an education role in an acute care setting preferred.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, NRP certification.
  • Childbirth Instructor Certification required or obtained within 3 months of hire.
  • Fetal monitoring certification within 3 months of hire.
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Instructor Certification required or obtained within 3 months of hire.
  • Education certification preferred.
  • NICU Experience Preferred
