Job Title: Educational Technology Coordinator

Reports to Director of Operations and Leadership and Lead Educational Technology Coordinator

Supervises N/A

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Contract Type: A Basis

Summary of Position:

Under the direction of the Director of Operations and Lead Educational Technology Coordinator for Blue Ridge Academy, this position is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and maintaining school-wide computing applications that support the student information database systems, Google, Microsoft Office, eforms/workflows, web applications, and third party software. This position was established to facilitate the delivery of information by translating complex data into information that users can easily understand and provide related support, training, and service to staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

I. Responsibilities to school and staff

A. Attends all required meetings and trainings

B. Manages time effectively to meet all necessary deadlines

C. Response to all calls and emails in a timely manner. Expectation is 24 business hours.

D. Provides excellent customer service

E. Develop specifications and requirements for the optimal integration and implementation of systems

F. Write code to meet user specifications

G. Design user-friendly interfaces to systems, applications, resources and databases

H. Design reports options and/or database applications for the purpose of providing personnel with information customized to their specific needs

I. Develops and prepares user manuals/job aids for providing enhancements, references, and instruction to staff

J. Communicate regularly with staff and collaborate to integrate technology across platforms

K. Establish, maintain and evaluate programs that will enhance the appropriate use of technology for learning, collaboration, and productivity for students and staff.

L. Analyzes applications, systems, and user requirements for the purpose of creating and enhancing user requested specialized data access.

M. Design, maintain and coordinate the use of technology, multimedia and innovation projects schoolwide

N. Consult with staff to identify and document software/system purpose, workflow issues, output needs, and determine overall functional and technical system requirements and specifications

O. Facilitates training as needed

P. May be on the computer for up to 8 hours per day

II. Responsibilities to department

A. Assist with mock audits and annual audits

B. Proposes, designs, develops, and delivers/implements a wide variety of solution to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of internal and external systems

C. Develops and prepares user manuals/job aids for providing enhancements, references, and instruction to staff

D. Support the production and technical aspects of school wide events and assist administration with the development of multimedia presentations for these events

E. Troubleshoots issues related to the student information systems and software applications for the purpose of resolving user problems

F. Creates, edits, and integrates graphics, text, video, and audio into web-accessible, digitized environments using standard tools according to accepted standards of design

G. Assists in the development of long and short term range plans to software technology, student information systems, specialized networking activities, etc. for the purpose of ensuring organizational objectives are achieved in the most efficient and timely manner

H. Facilitates training as needed

L. Self-motivated and take initiative to solve problems

M. Ability to communicate customer friendly messaging as needed via email or telephone

Qualifications:

  • One to three years of relevant work experience
  • Ability and comfort in working in a fast-paced environment, with a demonstrated ability and desire to flexibly shift responsibilities over time as the role and department evolve.
  • Excellent analytical and data-based decision making skills
  • Strong customer service orientation in approach to working with teachers, school administrators and families.
  • Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of technology and technological platforms including but not limited to: Google/Microsoft/Adobe Suite (Gmail, Excel, Google Docs/Word, Google Forms), Microsoft Windows OS platform.
  • Professional etiquette with regards to technology use.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working in virtual education settings.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as a team member, work independently, and be self-motivated.
  • Demonstrate the ability to quickly grasp new techniques, deal with rapid changes and events, and remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Promote a positive atmosphere.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in the workplace.
  • Knowledge of relational databases and related technologies
  • Knowledgeable and proficient with Internet usage and terminology
  • Generate reports using Excel and Google applications, other tools, and strong data manipulation skills
  • Familiarity with Google Apps Script and Javascript

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science, engineering, or a related field
  • One year or more of relevant full-time experience

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. Specific hearing abilities are required by this job. Keyboarding and/or phone use up to 8 hours per day may be required.

Work Environment:

This position is a remote and in-person position in which employees will work from home and our office in San Dimas California.

Some travel will be required.
