SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in conduction of electrocardiogram tests on patients.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conducts electrocardiogram and Holter monitor procedures
  • Performs electrocardiograms in all hospital areas including the emergency room, trauma room, inpatient units and onsite ambulatory clinics
  • Responds promptly to answer all STAT calls for EKGs meeting service level agreement
  • Observes and report patient’s reaction during all types of EKG testing
  • Alerts physician of critical test results within 10 minutes and documents process
  • Is responsible for placement and disconnection of holter monitors. Instructs the patient on the use of the monitor and diary. Operates and perform routine maintenance on EKG/ Holter equipment
  • Trouble-shoots equipment in the event of malfunction. Alerts Bio-electronics for repairs if needed
  • Prepares event monitor reports for the Cardiologist to overread. Informs physician immediately of grossly abnormal rhythms
  • When needed schedules EKG, Holter monitor and event monitor appointments in EPIC
  • Organizes assigned work and accurately completes workload statistics. Monitors EPIC patient work list and completes EKG and holter monitor procedure orders. Assists co-workers in completion of the worklist when needed
  • Under supervision, helps in the training of new employees at the hospital in the performance of EKG/ holter monitor duties
  • Adapts readily to changes in work assignments based on patient need and department priority
  • Greet patients and answer phones in the outpatient EKG department when required
  • Build and support a collaborative team environment
  • Is responsible for the cleaning of equipment after every patient contact. Maintain neatness throughout the EKG department

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Six months' experience in operating an electrocardiograph or completion of a recognized training program in electrocardiogram testing
