Electrical Maintenance Mechanic (Electrician)

Reports to: Engineering Supervisor

Department: Engineering

Date: May 2023

Shift Available: Monday - Friday 7am-3:30pm

Starting salary: $52,000 - $56,000

Job Summary: Responsible for performing various preventive maintenance functions related to electrical systems in a manner consistent with all applicable safety procedures and policies.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all preventative maintenance and repairs to the buildings electrical systems.
  • Conducts periodic, general preventative maintenance on all electrical systems.
    • Normal lubrication, adjustment, cleaning, replacement of consumable parts (such as filters, indicator lights, etc.)
    • Periodic testing of the equipment air handling units (including both rooftop and built-up units), re-circulation air systems, water pumping systems and cooling plant.
    • Replacement of various light bulbs and maintenance of light fixtures including ballast replacement.
  • Conducts general building maintenance, as needed.
  • Be responsive to tenant/renters complaints in the areas of safety, electrical and environmental needs through both personal contact and work order systems.
  • Prepare and maintain maintenance logs and records.
  • Perform operations as required by Job Order and/or Maintenance Order in preventive maintenance, repairs, construction and installations common to the trade.
  • Must ensure safe and clean work area daily.
  • Perform other projects and assignments as assigned by supervisor or shift lead.
  • Participates in continuing education programs and in house meetings and training sessions and approved or directed by the Preventive Maintenance Supervisor.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Licensed Electrician
  • High school diploma
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance capacity
  • Must be familiar with the location and have working knowledge of all building mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, life safety, fire protection and security systems to ensure proper operations and be able to act upon any conditions that are out of the ordinary.
  • Good knowledge of structural methods and construction procedure.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance and work order software systems.
  • Certified in fire and safety prevention and all other federal, state and local required preventive maintenance certifications.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills required
