Occupational training is meaningless if it does not prepare participants for real jobs in our community. To be effective, Goodwill must have proactive and trusting relationships with businesses so that we know what current hiring and training needs are, and what future projected needs will be, and we can tailor our services to prepare participants for jobs that our partners will then actually hire. As we are making plans for what training classrooms and equipment labs to have in our new building, now is the time to focus on targeted employer relationships. Goodwill has a goal of creating a staff team focused on employer engagement in the near future, but that does not exist now; this VISTA can help prepare that future team for success.
The Employer Engagement VISTA will create employer-focused collateral, research employers in in-demand fields, and engage potential employer partners to develop training and hiring collaborations. Goals will include creating processes, collateral, and a well-researched and prioritized employer target list that can all be used to engage employers in the long-term.
