Who We Are
Our team, Electromobility North America, is a vital part of the Electromobility function for Volvo Group Trucks Technology. E-mobility is responsible for the development of electrified powertrain solutions for today and the future. The group consists of many departments that develop systems and components for the electrified powertrain such as batteries, motors, chargers, high-voltage system, and ePTOs.

E-mobility North America is the local development and support office that delivers products for the North America market. Our team uses deep customer knowledge to break down regional customer features into technical requirements to feed back into the design. We support the global team in the development of the e-mobility system and are responsible for the performance verification and delivery of the vehicle. E-mobility North America also helps with cross functional support to educate and prepare other functions in the Volvo Group for the electrification future.

What You Will be Doing
As an Engineering Technician II you will work with a team of Technicians and Test Engineers to prepare, develop, instrument, & perform a variety of complete vehicle tests.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and participate in complete vehicle tests to include mechanical labor, prototype development, installation and troubleshooting of instrumentation and sensors, setup and maintenance of test rigs.
  • Perform multiple tests under direction of Test Engineer, which will include driving and travel, as needed.
  • Complete workshop-related assignments to support product development validation engineering activities
  • Apply organized, systematic, and detailed mechanical methods to fulfill goals of assignment relating to vehicle components or systems. Assignments are phases of larger project or lesser complete projects that involve significant repair or modification to vehicles
  • Participate in departmental resource-planning activities
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with engineering staff including design engineering
  • Maintain a current CDL to operate vehicles for testing

You are a highly skilled Engineering Technician with an interest in staying up-to-date with the latest technological advances, including those in electric vehicles. You are not adverse to learning on the fly and welcome the opportunity to learn challanging, new skills. Requirements:
  • High School Diploma; Associates Degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in testing and service of heavy-duty trucks and trailer systems
  • Experience working with electric vehicles is highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of instrumentation, electrical systesm, DAQ systems, strain gauges, hydraulics, load cells, etc.
  • Experience with service tools and diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to travel as needed for testing activities

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Position requires bending, twisting, and squatting often
  • Prolonged standing/sitting
