Job Description

Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. The College is a dynamic learning organization that serves as a Germanna regional leader and preferred partner where quality learning experiences enable students to participate effectively in the social, economic, political, intellectual, and cultural life of their communities. Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.C. and Richmond and between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Chesapeake Bay. Full of history, the area offers a community rich with diversity, the arts, technology, vineyards, hiking, canoeing/kayaking, and many other activities.

Germanna Community College is seeking a part-time customer service professional to work in the Enrollment Lab and Student Help Desk within Enrollment Services. These positions work directly with students with one position available at the Daniel Technology Center (DTC), and one at the Fredericksburg Area Campus(FAC)/Barbara J. Fried Center (BJFC). These positions work part-time at no less than 29-hours per week.
Flexibility and a willingness to work at other locations, as needed, is a must. This position operates in a fast paced and complex educational environment. The ideal candidate will understand the importance of identifying prospective students and responding in a timely fashion to convert those interested from prospect to applicant. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide students with assistance in system access, admissions onboarding, registration, and financial aid
  • Make regular referrals to Counseling, Advising, Accessibility Resources, Veteran’s Affairs, Testing, and other support services
  • Assist students with their schedules, conduct email, text, and phone outreach
  • Support students both in-person and online, respond to email, and process documentation for students
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Provide timely follow up
  • Troubleshoot any barriers the student may have in onboarding as well as outline the onboarding process for new students
