Entry Level Accountant Job at Employers Council

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Compiles, analyzes, and reconciles financial information to prepare monthly closing entries, such as general ledger accounts including documentation of related transactions.
- Performs invoicing functions for customers, including answering related questions and resolving issues while meeting established deadlines.
- Determines proper handling of financial transactions and ensures proper approval of transactions according to company policy and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Process time and expense billing through CRM/ERP system.
- Collaborates with members and service line managers to provide reporting/data necessary to operation the service line efficiently.
- Works independently to extract, summarize and analyze data from multiple software systems including accounting software. applications, fixed asset systems, SharePoint, and Association Management Systems.
- Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Responds professionally to phone and email inquiries for customers needing assistance with invoicing, payments, and other questions.
- Collects appropriate data and prepares state and local sales tax returns according to deadlines.
- Collects appropriate data and prepares personal property tax returns according to deadlines.

Qualifications/Education
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty, competently and in a timely manner. The individual must demonstrate initiative and the ability to be a problem solver, in what can be a fast-paced environment. We are currently looking for candidates located in the following states for this fully remote position: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
- Associates degree, preferred, or 5+ years of accounting training and experience.
- The candidate should have knowledge of MS Office365 software, with advanced Excel skills.
- Communication skills, with ability to communicate complex and/or sensitive information in a clear, concise, diplomatic, and professional manner.
- Experience with MS Dynamics SL, Sage Intacct or similar accounting software and fixed assets applications.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, executives, and staff groups.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Work Environment
General office environment most of the time. This position works remotely from home office. Occasional lifting. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
