Shift Leads are under the direct guidance of the Pieper Memorial Hospital Manager, with added support from the Pieper Memorial supervisors. The position of Shift Lead also encompasses all the duties within the individual s primary department and/or position with the added responsibilities of supervision of department members during assigned/scheduled shift. Additionally, you are required to adhere to all hospital directives and protocols and maintain the highest ethical, moral, and professional standards and model a pleasant, respectful, and productive doctor-staff and staff-staff relationship.

  • Must have at least two years of Veterinary Assistant or Technician experience for a Shift Lead position. Pay range is from $17-$28/hour. This range is based on whether the candidate possesses Assistant or Technician skills, their years of experience, skill and proficiency level and applicable education and/or certifications.

Some of the primary responsibilities include:

  • Supervises all staff during the assigned shift.
  • Monitor staffing levels for each shift, ensure that support staff is arriving and leaving on time, managing lunch breaks and controlling overtime.
  • Fill shift vacancies when a support staff member calls out.
  • Resolve informal employee complaints and effectively present employee issues to management for counseling and disciplinary actions.
  • Collaborate with managers to deliver 30/60/90 day performance reviews for staff on second shift.
  • Responsible for conducting working interviews as needed.
  • Assist and oversee all training of new staff members on second shift.
  • Attend meetings as needed in relation to the shift supervisor position.
  • Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of all shared work areas; superman booths, exam rooms, isolation, radiology, special procedures, floor cages, runs, treatment rooms, and operating rooms.
  • Maintain equipment in good working order and submission of tickets for repairs/replacement, as needed.
  • Oversee proper communication between all three shifts are maintained.
  • Attend Supervisory training as required for continued professional development.
  • Must be able to work rotating schedule that includes weekends and holidays.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.
