RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicates with customers, vendors, and fellow employees in a professional manner that fosters cooperation and amicable problem solving.
  • Collaborate with estimating manager, sales team and subject matter experts as required to understand scope of work and develop complete estimates.
  • Apply critical thinking to understand the full scope of estimating effort including time required to complete a project.
  • Provide well organized, clear, and reliable estimates in a timely manner.
  • Read and comprehend drawings, models, and specifications.
  • Provide and/or develop necessary drawings, sketches, specifications, and take-off information to suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and bids.
  • Create quantifiable written estimates calculating weights, areas, material costs, man-hour estimates, and subcontract work. Estimates should be backed up by written quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to validate material that includes a detailed labor breakdown to validate labor costs.
  • Provide input necessary for the salesperson or project manager to create complete proposals including clarifications, exclusions, schedules, and pricing as required by the bid documents.
  • Allow adequate time for estimates to be reviewed and revised as necessary.
  • Schedule estimates to meet required bid dates.
  • Allow adequate time for obtaining competitive bids on material and subcontracts.
  • Propose alternative fabrication methods which provide advantage to CAID Industries
  • Look for ways to purchase and fabricate projects efficiently.
  • Serve as a resource to project managers in planning and completing project requirements.
  • Work with procurement manager to prequalify suppliers and subcontractors to avoid problems after the award.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 years job experience in a related industry
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal relationship skills
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, AutoCAD, or equivalent drafting software
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam, Revu and/or equivalent PDF editing software
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials available
  • Ability to learn and utilize specialty software used in house to support estimating process
  • Must be able to pass an ITAR background check and be a US Citizen or Permanent resident
