In this role, you will be working independently and directly on the installation of a variety of landscape projects throughout the Community.

Projects will include but is not limited to planting, grading, paver installation and sod.

We are looking for a candidate who is reliable with 5 to 10 years of proven experience and a willingness to work in a fast paced environment.

Essential Duties/Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team as needed.

• Coordinate and prioritize the use of equipment and resources with various departments as needed

• Responds to any horticultural or sight distance issues during field inspections or as requested

• Communicates with contractors, vendors, landscape management staff, or other departmental staff in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner

• Assist as necessary Grounds department as needed as time permits

• Schedules work week to efficiently implement job duties; organizes pertinent tasks

• Performs related duties as required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• knowledge of horticulture, arboriculture and turf grass management appropriate for

• knowledge and experience in/with all types of landscape operations including, but not limited to:

o Landscape design, installation and maintenance

o Irrigation design, installation, and maintenance

o Tree planting design, installation and maintenance

o Equipment operation

o Chemical applications to/for herbaceous and woody plant material including trees

• knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials used in the landscape industry

• knowledge of weed, insect, and disease pests and IPM techniques

• excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

• excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, manage and organize multiple projects, and complete assignments with minimal supervision

• ability to read and interpret landscape plans and specifications

• ability to exercise independent judgement and initiative

• Work hours may include nights, weekends, and holidays; and may require working in adverse weather conditions

Physical Demands:

Frequently stands, walks and spends extended periods of time on their feet; regularly uses hands to finger, feel or handle, reaches with arms and hands, talks and hears; occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crawls, crouches, pushes and pulls; regularly lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.

Environment/Noise: Regularly exposed to waste, debris, moving mechanical parts and power tools, adhesive fumes, caustic chemicals, electricity and outside weather conditions. The noise level is moderate.

Certificates/Licenses: Driver’s License required. South Carolina Commercial Pesticide License within (90) Days

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences: Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• Weekend availability

• Landscape maintenance: 3 years (Preferred)
