UW’s Office of Alumni & Stakeholder Engagement has an exciting opportunity for a Finance and Administration Business Partner. This is a full-time, permanent position.

The Finance and Administration (F&A) Business Partner will lead the comprehensive financial administration and operations for the UW’s Office of Alumni & Stakeholder Engagement (ASE) and the UW Alumni Association (UWAA), an independent 501c3 non-profit organization affiliated with the UW through a formal Cooperation and Operations Agreement.

Reporting to the Senior Director for Administration and Board Relations, this position will provide broad fiscal coordination, strategic fiscal and operational planning, and analysis for ASE and its affiliated organizations. This position will lead and oversee the development and management of UWAA’s annual $9M+ budget and will be in close coordination with the University Advancement Finance Team, which manages the UWAA’s accounting, auditing, and financial statements.

This position advances ASE/UWAA’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) and to advancing understandings and actions that are actively anti-racist. This position actively participates in programs, services, committees, and DEIB professional development and is responsible for achieving shared DEIB goals and objectives. It is responsible for developing and supporting inclusive, equity-focused partnerships, communications, and organizational administration in support of the institution’s public mission.

What You Will Do

Finance Management and Administration (60%)
  • Provide broad fiscal coordination and administration for the ASE unit and UWAA, ensuring compliance with UW and UWAA financial policies and procedures.
  • Lead and oversee the development and continuous management of UWAA’s annual $9M+ operating budget.
  • Partner with ASE/UWAA Program Leadership on monthly revenue and expense reconciliation and reporting, ensuring budgets are on target through the budget period, identifying and understanding budget variances, and elevating significant revenue or expense variances to executive leadership.
  • Prepare finance and budget reports, presentations, and forecasts for UWAA Board of Trustees and UWAA Executive and Fiscal Governance Committees.

    Strategic Fiscal Planning, Operations, and Leadership (20%)
  • Develop long-range revenue and expense projections and forecasts and advise on strategies to ensure effective and efficient use of resources and long-term financial health for the organization.
  • Lead UWAA’s annual comprehensive budget development process in coordination with annual program planning process; work with individual program leads on program revenue and expense estimates and make recommendations to executive leadership on strategies to address variances.

    Business Process Assessment and UW Finance Transformation Implementation (20%)
  • Actively engaging and leading efforts within ASE/UWAA to successfully implement the new UW Financial systems in coordination with current non-profit systems.
  • Ongoing assessment and improvement of current business and finance processes to improve processing and reporting for ASE staff, UWAA Trustees, vendors, and other partners.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
    Bachelor’s degree and five to six years of experience in finance, budgeting, financial program management, or related field.

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
