We are seeking a Financial Advocate to join our Patient Visitor Services Department. This position is Part-Time Core, scheduled 24 hours per week and is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package -or- a 13% pay differential in lieu of benefits. Location: Mid Columbia Medical Center is located in The Dalles, Oregon. We work, live, and play in the scenic Columbia River Gorge, Oregon. Located 85 miles east of Portland in the majestic Columbia River Gorge, The Dalles features old-growth forests, rushing waterfalls, and year-round access to outdoor recreation, including downhill and cross-country skiing, world-class water sports, and miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. - High School education or equivalent
- A minimum of two years college education including satisfactory completion of college level healthcare coursework preferred

- Two years minimum of directly applicable healthcare insurance experience and/or coordination with revenue cycle and billing review/corrections
- Two years customer service experience required
- Six to twelve months minimum knowledge of online eligibility systems and status review of claims
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in the English language, and use appropriate technology whenever differing language needs arise.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills which promote cooperation and teamwork.
- Ability to withstand varying job pressures and organize/prioritize related job tasks.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks, develop new skills and adapt to change.
- Ability to communicate in calm, succinct, business-like manner.
- Ability to identify alternative means of communication as needed.
- Keyboarding of 40 wpm and computer software skills.
- Ability to collect payments in various forms and perform cash reconciliation tasks.
- Ability to navigate the health insurance market, insurance websites and available products.
- Ability to work efficiently exercising independent judgment within stated guidelines.
