Job Description

Responsible for enhancing the financial and administrative operating efficiencies in the Engineering Dean’s Office and the College of Engineering; serves as a key financial and administrative resource to the Dean’s Office Senior Leadership Team and the College's department heads and business managers regarding programs, operations, and administrative policies and procedures; plans, coordinates, and performs business management support services such as training new employees and overseeing financial planning throughout the year within the Dean’s Office; performs accounting and administrative duties for the Dean's Office and the College; ensures adherence to budgets within the Dean's Office; ensures Dean's Office and College compliance with university, state and federal guidelines regarding financial and administrative matters; and assists with other duties in the operation of the College of Engineering.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or related field or an equivalent level of training and experience; significant experience in progressively responsible financial positions; working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles; experience performing fund reconciliations and preparing financial and budgetary reports; demonstrated ability to provide leadership in the application of programs, operations, and administrative policies and procedures; demonstrated ability to coordinate business management and support services; demonstrated experience with programs such as Microsoft Office software; and experience utilizing internet browsers.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with VT systems (HokieMart, ChromeRiver, Banner, FINTRACS, MicroStrategy, Timeclock Plus, ERS, SUMMIT); experience querying for financial and human resource data using a variety of databases; working knowledge of the University's policies and procedures; experience accurately entering information into the University's Banner system including Human Resources and financial data.
