Orthopedic Physicians Alaska seeks a highly skilled, dedicated and professional Financial Counselor to join our rapidly growing and dynamic team. - Works as a team player and is committed to compassionate patient care
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and an investigative nature
- Self-starter who embraces professionalism and learning
- Efficient, accurate and detail oriented
- Provide outstanding customer service to all patients
- Review guarantor balances and discuss payment and financial hardship options with patients
- Answer patient calls regarding account questions, concerns or complaints
- Answer insurance and billing questions for patients and staff
- Contact patients regarding current balances prior to appointments
- Obtain and process payments made by phone and payments made in person
- Review accounts for follow up action needed
- Basic knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding
- Basic collection experience
- Knowledge of billing procedures
- Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA rules and regulations
- Knowledge of primary and secondary coordination of insurance benefits
- Able to understand and explain EOBs
- Able to work in an integrated team that includes claims processing, payment posting, collections and pre-certification
- One (1) year of medical office experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year financial counseling in an orthopedic office
