Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Accounting Administrator III, the Accounting Administrator II (AAII) provides leadership over the Financial Accounting & Reporting unit tasked with financial statement preparation and reporting, game accounting, investment portfolio management, and GAAP analysis. The AAII is responsible for the fiscal integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the unit's work, while promoting the Finance Division's commitment to innovation and increased efficiencies. In order to review and direct staff's work efficiently, the AAII is required to keep abreast of the latest pronouncements from the Financial Accounting Standards Board and the Government Accounting Standards Board, as well as guides and bulletins from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Degree with a concentration in Accounting, Finance, Business, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience supervising staff or leading a team performing professional accounting work.
  • Experience producing GAAP financial statements including note disclosures. (GAAP financial statements include the Statement of Net Position; the Statement of Revenues, Expenses, and Changes in Net Position; and the Statement of Cashflows).
  • Good knowledge of State accounting practices, requirements, and reporting.
  • Good writing skills, including the ability to concisely explain complex financial issues.
  • Experience working with auditors.
  • Experience participating in organizational strategic planning, policy setting, and budgeting.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $7,204.00 - $8,950.00 per month
