To support that challenge, our Finance Team is currently seeking a Global Finance Lead – Seeds Research. The preferred location for this position is Durham, NC, however, Greensboro, NC and Downers Grove, IL are other possible locations for this position.
You will help shape the future of agriculture by:
- Providing finance support to the Seeds Research Leadership Team (SRLT) focusing on forward looking analysis, risks and opportunities and how impacts to the business can be managed
- Sharing financial expertise around key strategic initiatives for Seed Research
- Providing decision support and scenario planning for project resourcing, internal vs. external collaborations
- Leading and managing the strategic financial planning activities for Seeds Research globally. Planning activities will be completed interactively with the business to ensure ownership of the numbers
- Providing insightful financial analysis to decision makers in a timely manner including clear, meaningful, and strategic challenges
Accountabilities
- Develop an effective partnership with business and ensure strong relationships to achieve a clear understanding of overall strategic business, Seeds Research portfolio, cost drivers and implications of trade off decisions
- Lead the Global Seed Research Finance community to ensure alignment and consistency across the regions
- Actively serve as a member of the SRLT and the Enabling Technologies Portfolio Team while participating in meetings and creating business cases to deliver insights to current and future business opportunities
- Own and lead the capitalization process for the Seeds R and D organization
- Engage with Global Seed End to End team to ensure solid link between our Seed Research portfolio and longer-term scenario planning
- Provide financial insights to key strategic initiatives for the Seed Research function
- Lead key initiatives and projects in the Global Seeds Finance team, projects will extend beyond the Seed Research function, may include Seed Development, Production and Supply and Global Strategy
- Budget planning and financial analysis of spend vs. BUD, leading to insights around impacts to risks and opportunities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, Master’s degree is preferred
- 10+ years of experience in finance business partnering, business case creation, and financial modeling
- Experience collaborating across multiple business functions to achieve end-results that have significant impact to the business
- Ability to challenge incorrect business assumptions and communicate complex business and finance data to generate decision making
- Ability to clearly communicate goals and keeps team focused on the right priorities. Challenge self and others to ensure close alignment between activities and business needs

- Demonstrate a forward-thinking mindset and generate multiple options to solve problems. Ability to identify key financial risks or benefits related to business decisions.
- Accurately and effectively communicate the financial impacts of business decisions and influence senior leadership
- Strong conceptual and analytical strategic thinking skills with the ability to focus on the future
- Knowledge of the global marketplace with specific knowledge of industry drivers, market innovations, and business issues
