POSITION SUMMARY:

The Fitness Director provides leadership and management for the Idaho Falls Family YMCA fitness department operations, staff, budget, fundraising, program development, and membership experience in accordance with the Idaho Falls Family YMCA policies, procedures, and standards. This position requires clear and effective communication with the Membership Director as well as the Financial and Program Development Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum age of 21
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health-Related Field
  • Department experience and Personal Trainer Assistance desired but not required.
  • Supervisor experience
  • CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
  • Social Media/Marketing experience desired but not required

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Possess a clear and complete understanding of exercise science principles and the ability to apply those principles in a practical atmosphere.
  • Word effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions. Listens for understanding and meaning. Takes initiative to assist in developing others.
  • Must work collectively with Membership Director as well as the Financial and Program Development Director for member and nonmember attendance, retention, recruitment, inquiries, program development, budgets, and fundraising.
  • Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and managing a high performing staff focused on providing exceptional service and working well as a team.
  • Conduct multiple daily walk-throughs on the fitness floor for cleanliness, safety, and equipment inventory/maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments about changes to programs, needs, and overall fitness department information.
  • Willing to go and promote throughout the community fitness information and events.
