Fixed Income Trader - SouthState Duncan Job at SouthState Duncan
To work with upstream dealers, fixed income salespeople and their clients to facilitate the purchase and sale of bank eligible fixed income securities and funding. Must have a strong working knowledge of banking, bank eligible fixed income products, bank investment strategy, asset/liability management and the bank regulatory environment.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Must be knowledgeable of the banking industry and be aware of trends and other issues that could impact the investment portfolio or bank’s funding strategies
- Should have an in-depth knowledge of financial markets and be able to ascertain the value of one product when compared to other options
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of all fixed income investment products that are deemed suitable for financial institutions
- Must build and maintain relationships with upstream dealers, fixed income salespeople and downstream bank clients
- Have daily discussions with fixed income dealers, salespeople and division customers regarding economy, fixed income strategies and the general banking environment
- Provide research and fixed income ideas to fixed income salespeople on a daily basis as they work with their customers.
- Present as requested on relevant topics at bank sponsored and other events involving bank customers
- Provide excellent customer service for both internal and external customers. Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to manager and/or Human Resources.
OTHER SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires strong knowledge of personal computer, Microsoft Office, Bloomberg and other software used in department.
- Must be able to prepare documents and compose business letters and memorandums.
- Must have good knowledge of business English, spelling and punctuation.
- Requires knowledge of office practices, procedures and general office machines.

DIMENSIONS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Three to five years prior experience preferred.
- Must possess a thorough understanding of bond markets, the economy and interest rate correlations
- Must be able to evaluate securities and discern value in the market
- Must be familiar with email systems, Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Internet Explorer and basic personal computer skills
- Ability to consistently meet service level standards and goals
- Ability to manage multiple request simultaneously
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer Literate
