Fleet Maintenance Manager Job at Confidential
Our growing logistics company is looking for a Fleet Maintenance Manager to join our Operations team.
The Fleet Maintenance Manager will be responsible for overseeing all operations for multiple maintenance sites and responsible for the preventive maintenance and repair of the fleet. Responsibilities will include all operational aspects of repair and maintenance, fuel management, budgeting, forecasting, business planning, and other financial reporting. Ensure all repairs and/or maintenance to equipment (diesel fleet, trailers, and other heavy-duty equipment) is performed in accordance with Company safety and compliance standards, and with all federal/state regulations. While most of the fleet reports to a base daily, the Company owns and operates a fleet of over the road tractors and trailers (Refrigerated and Dry Van) operating across the lower 48 states of the United States. We are looking for residents in the Austin or San Antonio area to apply.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Safety- Set the stage and ensure a safe workplace
- Compliance- Make sure that we meet all required rules, recommendations and processes to create a safe work environment
- Ensure that all equipment is safe and is maintained in full compliance with applicable federal, state and local rules and regulations
- Develop processes and programs to increase the reliability of the fleet to provide better service to our customers
- Implement processes designed to reduce fleet repair and maintenance expenses
- Consult on the daily maintenance operations of one or multiple maintenance sites
- Advise on personnel needs of the department including coaching, training, and evaluating employee performance
- Manage the implementation of Company’s maintenance software, TMT
- Manage planning, scheduling, and execution of all OTR repair work to optimize productivity
- Advise field reliability team on the planning, scheduling and execution of all major repair work to optimize productivity
- Implementing regular maintenance programs for different areas of the fleet and pieces of equipment
- Assist in the management of Fuel Discount Programs and seek the most fitting deals in the marketplace for our fleet
- Perform inspections of outside repairs to ensure all work was properly completed in accordance with Company’s safety and compliance procedures and federal/state regulations; follow up where appropriate
- Responsible for managing professional business relationships with external vendors and maintain knowledge of all equipment warranties
- Track issues and conduct Quality Control Inspections (QCI’s)
- Analyze the quality and effectiveness of the work performed
- Oversee repair diagnostics on more complex matters, provide coaching, and identify training opportunities where necessary
- Manage the creation, updating, and management of all OTR Vehicle maintenance instructions, vehicle standard operating procedures, maintenance circulars, and equipment
- Assess and manage fleet tire program and suggest best vendors and practices going forward
- Work with Area Managers regarding the oversight of inventory control systems to ensure necessary equipment and part levels are maintained and purchases are within budget
- Consult with Area Managers to manage the budget for the maintenance shop(s)
- Manage and oversee full compliance with the Company’s Purchase Order processesRecommend the appropriate classification of major repair expenditures (expensed vs. capitalization)
- Manage administrative support assigned to this function
- Maintain knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic and electrical systems to perform advanced preventive and repair maintenance functions on heavy equipment and vehicles used by Company, both on site and on the road
- Prepare and submit budget for approval and set department goals as aligned with goals established by leadership
- Manage a cost-effective budget with emphasis on decreasing costs and improving reliability
- Monitor and evaluate reliability and maintenance performance and productivity, identify operational issues, and process improvements, and implement strategies to improve performance
- Update and submit required reports in a timely manner
- Maintain open and effective communication with other departments and leadership to ensure fluid and effective operations
- Determine training needs and provide training to new and/or lesser experienced employees
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- At least a High school diploma or GED
- Valid State Driver’s License
- Commercial Driver’s License a plus
- Five (5) or more years Supervisory or Management experience
- Financial and/or Project Management experience
- QuickBooks, TMW/TMT, Microsoft or other Project Management experience
- Proven Microsoft Office Suite application experience and proficiency
- MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
- Experience working with heavy equipment requiring a thorough knowledge of safe working practices, DOT, OSHA and other federal and state regulations
