Concrete Lifting Apprentice

Polar Rise Concrete Lifting raises/levels settled concrete (sidewalks/driveways/patios/roadways/etc) and stabilizes hollow voids found underneath concrete within the Red River Valley. Polar Rise is seeking a career oriented individual interested in learning a new trade and advancing to become a crew leader. We want to train you to our standards, thus no previous experience or training in the concrete lifting industry is required. A positive upbeat attitude and dedication to our clients is of extreme importance. New employees enjoy specialized hands-on training in the field at a comfortable pace to learn ALL aspects of the concrete lifting trade. This training will ensure development of the skill-set required in becoming a crew leader and advancing within the company.

Our industry enjoys immense freedom while working outside nearly every day. A typical project would be started and completed in the same day and the location is ever-changing, typically within the Fargo-Moorhead area. A typical day starts at 6:00am and could consist of 1-3 projects, located on college campuses, businesses throughout the area, residential driveways/walkways, interstate/bridges, etc. Anywhere concrete exists is our potential office. A typical day has all employees done ~2-4pm. 40-45 hours is a typical work week, Monday - Friday. We do not work outside in adverse weather.

Job Duties: Most of our work is outside. Duties include assist with cleaning and preparing job site by sweeping and/or removing items off work areas, use of a variety of tools such as power drills, brooms, scrapers, trowel, leaf blower, dust pan, wire brush, and various cleaning supplies where needed (we will train you on any power tools you are unfamiliar with). Every project requires drilling small, dime sized holes in concrete with a power drill, injecting foam, and hand patching the holes with cement upon completion of project. This industry is light duty and NOT typically strenuous.

New employees will learn how to tear down and rebuild the injection gun and complete the rebuild process daily. As the apprentice gains on-site knowledge of our machinery and process, they will expand into operating the injection gun and become experienced in all aspects of the job. High attention to detail is required. A typical candidate for this position would likely self describe themselves as picky or perfectionist when describing their work ethic.

General Laborer Requirements: Candidate must be punctual, have dependable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Crew is a 2 man team, so reliability is paramount to maintain our commitment to our clients and other team member. Must be at least 18 years old. This position is full-time seasonal (May – November), however employee will be paid their annual salary throughout the entire year with no obligation to the company in the off-season.
