The Neil Jones Food Company is looking for a seasonal Forklift Operator at our San Benito Foods facility in Hollister, CA. The Neil Jones Food Company processes superior quality, fresh packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. With headquarters in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 35 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

Summary: Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a forklift performing multiple duties throughout entire plant using multiple types of attachments for the transport of containers including pallets, drums and bins. Main tasks will be the simple movement of product from one location to another using a variety of different forklift types, including electric and propane lifts. Maintains an orderly work area and assists inventory control as needed. Ensures that Good Manufacturing Practices Policies (GMP’s) Safety and Health Hazard Analysis and Critical Control (HACCP) procedures are being followed at all times. This is a seasonal, non-exempt, union position, supporting our fresh pack season, typically June – October.

Key Responsibilities:

• Loading and unloading of trucks in a safe and efficient manner.
• Moving pallets from point A to point B
• Handling of pallets, Stack unstack, pick up, move, position on truck, elevate load and deposit on top of truck.
• Moving product from staging area to Rail Loader to facilitate the loading of rail cars.
• Moving product from storage pallets to shipping pallets in order to facilitate the truck loader.

Requirements:

• GED or high school diploma preferred not required; or at least one-year relevant experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Forklift Certification and demonstrated experience to properly inspect and drive a forklift in a Production/Warehouse environment.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally to adjust pallets if needed

• Ability to read and write in English; preferably bilingual Spanish/English.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended hours, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.

Compensation:

The hourly union wage is $20.39.
