Formulation Chemist
HelixBind is a rapidly growing in-vitro diagnostic company based just outside of Boston, MA. We develop diagnostic assays for the characterization of invasive infections such as sepsis. Our RaPID system incorporates a suite of proprietary technologies from sample to answer to provide culture-free identification of bloodstream infections directly from blood, enabling physicians to select appropriate, targeted antimicrobial therapeutics within hours rather than days. The first test for this platform, RaPID/BSI, was designated a Breakthrough Device by the FDA in 2020.

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our R&D Team as a Formulation Technologist. This is a great time to join our team. The position offers the exciting opportunity to grow along with the Company as we take our initial product through FDA clearance and market launch while, in parallel, build out our pipeline of impactful syndromic diagnostic assays.

LOCATION: Boxborough, MA (just outside of Boston)

Educational Requirements, Skills, and Experience

• Certificate, Associate’s or Bachelors’ degree in a science or engineering discipline with 0-5 years’ experience (or 3-10 years equivalent work experience).
• Hands-on laboratory experience in biology, biochemistry or clinical chemistry.
• Experience using controlled procedures in a regulated environment (FDA and ISO 13485) preferred, but not required.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in PC applications including MS Windows and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Use custom equipment to fill and seal reagents into a custom disposable cassette assembly.
• Uses various laboratory methods (weighing, mixing, pipetting, centrifuging, etc.) to prepare batches of reagents.
• Use laboratory equipment to conduct qualitative and quantitative testing of raw materials.
• Follows established SOPs and documents laboratory work in accordance with quality requirements.
• Revise and update documents in accordance with protocol changes.
• Create, review and approves new processes.
• Assists in ensuring the regular maintenance of common lab instrumentation (pH meters, pipettes, balances, etc.) and custom HelixBind-specific equipment.
• Maintains laboratory records and inventory of supplies and reagents.
• Performs routine laboratory maintenance tasks including organization and cleaning of work areas, checking for expired reagents and raw materials, and disposal of product samples and chemicals.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.51 - $55.30 per hour
