We’re looking for a digitally creative and organized freelance photo editor who has a passion for color and an eye for detail. This role supports photo/video retouching, digital design, and marketing teams by creatively selecting imagery that illustrates the high quality and functional designs of our products in keeping with Dagne Dover’s voice + branding.

The position involves researching, selecting, cropping, providing retouching reviews and notes, ensuring branded and consistent look and feel of retouched photos and videos, providing photo/video retouching references for the retouching team, uploading images to the website, organizing photo and video RAW and retouched files for easy access and use by all team members, ensuring proper file type and specs for both print and web, and retouching/recoloring assistance as needed.

Quick thinking, passion for color accuracy, an eye for detail, high quality output, strong project management + communication skills, strong photoshop skills, and the ability to assess and manage personal and team priorities all in a fast-paced, high-volume environment are essential.


Role:

  • Work closely with the marketing and creative teams and other verticals in making image/video selects and managing the retouching process from start to finish for all digital and print assets on tight deadlines.
  • Source retouching inspiration and reference images for design team, photo team and retouchers to ensure branding consistency across all shoots and post production retouching/recoloring.
  • Be available for retouching assistance (color correction, siloing, masking, etc) on an as needed basis.
  • Coordinate retouching needs, delivery of images, and deadlines with designers and the marketing team.
  • Manage and coordinate freelance retouchers on an as needed basis.
  • Work collaboratively with designers to ensure the highest quality photos and videos are available for use across web and print assets.
  • Crop ecom, editorial, and video assets ensuring consistency across platforms (e.g. consistent bottom line of bags and accurate scaling for ecom images, accurate resolution for ads, cropping in a way that makes the bags the hero and reduces distracting elements of the image or video, etc.)
  • Provide retouching reviews and notes to retouchers in a timely manner and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ensure that all retouching/recoloring fits within branding guidelines and specified art direction.
  • Upload ecom or other images to the website and organize dropbox so that all retouched and RAW imagery and video are easy to access by all team members.
  • Ensure quality output by providing accurate retouching/recoloring notes, and specifying or correcting export settings for both print and web.
  • Support calendar timelines to maintain launch schedules and other deadlines.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by manager or supervisor

You:

  • You have a history of producing and managing high-quality output for both print and digital channels.
  • You have 2-5 years of experience in photo editing, preferably in fashion/ecom.
  • You are exceptionally detail-oriented and well organized.
  • You’re proactive and able to show initiative to foresee / resolve issues related to post workflow.
  • You have a keen understanding of color theory.
  • You’re able to work quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • You’re self-motivated, resourceful, hardworking with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • You are seasoned in Adobe Creative Suite (Expert in PS CC).
  • You have strong image editing skills in color-correction; selection and compositing, image sizing, batch processing and photo-manipulation.
  • You are proficient with Mac OS.
  • Having a color calibrated monitor setup at your remote location is a plus.
  • Capture One experience is a plus.
  • DaVinci Resolve or other video retouching/recoloring experience is a plus.

Compensation is $80/hour.

  • Candidates in the local NYC area are preferred, and must be available to meet in person as needed. All applicants must be US-based.
