About you:

We’re looking for proofreaders who will be responsible for ensuring the final quality of each study guide before it is made available to our customers. Our proofreaders demonstrate an expertise in grammatical, syntactical, and stylistic conventions, formatting, spelling, accuracy, and citations, as well as an eye for detail. This role serves as the last line of defense in the SuperSummary content production process, reviewing edited drafts for grammatical or formatting mistakes and identifying any and all errors overlooked at other stages of writing and editing. We are keenly interested in developing steady, long-term relationships with proofreaders who want to contribute to our growing team while maintaining a flexible schedule.

We’re looking for proofreaders of all experience levels, and we provide a clear advancement path and clear opportunities for those looking to grow as an editor.


About the study guides:

  • Our study guides have a length of 5,000–25,000 words, depending on the length and complexity of the text at hand
  • Guides include a balanced combination of summary and analysis, including chapter summaries and analyses, themes, symbols, and more
  • Fiction book titles we've covered include Exhalation (Ted Chiang), Deacon King Kong (James McBride), and Beloved (Toni Morrison)
  • Nonfiction book titles we’ve covered include The Death and Life of the Great Lakes (Dan Egan), The Ballot or the Bullet (Malcolm X), and Helter Skelter (Vincent Bugliosi, Curt Gentry)
  • Middle grade/YA book titles we've covered include The Inquisitor's Tale (Adam Gidwitz), Brown Girl Dreaming (Jacqueline Woodson), and Front Desk (Kelly Lang)
  • Poetry titles we've covered include "Ozymandias" (Percy Bysshe Shelley), "We Real Cool" (Gwendolyn Brooks), and "An American Sunrise" (Joy Harjo)
  • Theater titles we’ve covered include Antigone (Sophocles), A Raisin in the Sun (Lorraine Hansberry), and Amadeus (Peter Shaffer)


We want to hear from you if you have:


  • Excellent grammar and communication skills and a firm grasp on the conventions of language

  • A meticulous attention to detail and implacable dedication to quality and standards

  • Exceptional time management skills and a willingness to work autonomously

  • A predisposition to learn and improve and an eagerness to help us do the same

  • Familiarity with AP and other style guides

  • Fact-checking and research expertise

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Google Drive, and content management systems

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, or related field

  • A passion for literature and the ability to analyze a variety of texts
