The basic function of the Gear-Cutting Lead hand is to lead the manufacturing operation of Gear Cutting. The candidate is to set-up and operate CNC Gear-Cutting machining centers. He/she must be capable of setting-up and running multiple gear cutting machines. The Lead person will manage the cutting tools (Hobbing and Shaping) and fixturing for all gears to be cut. The candidate will also operate a gear metrology machine.

The position requires a good background in Gear Cutting technology and CNC turning machining.

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Receiving parts from previous operation
• Assign operator, M/C, and tooling
• Setup the machine and Quality instruments according to latest version of process sheets, work instructions and quality alerts (If applicable)
• Check and approve first Off part and compete FODS (Full Data L)
• Check the operator, M/C and part every one hour, at least
• Prepare M/C and tooling for next part while the existing parts are still running
• Check and approve last part, complete LODS, attach and file all documents
• Deliver the parts to next operation
• Manage cutting tools inventory, sharpening, coating (Schedule, shipping and receiving)
• Work area and cutting tools, fixers, and QC tooling organization and 5S
• Workplace and operators’ safety observation and considerations
• M/C routine checkups and maintenance

Qualifications:

• College degree /Completion of apprenticeship program in Gear Manufacturing.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in Gear Cutting as lead person.
• Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and gear profile charts
• Follow process sheets and work instructions.
• Ability to work with and understand tight tolerances and surface finishes.
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge in gear manufacturing technology.
• Possess Leadership and organizational skills
• Apply continuous improvement to the process and workplace.
