The Grant Coordinator initiates, facilitates, and manages the development of applications for funding through entitlement and competitive grants. The Grant Coordinator will focus primarily on developing grant proposals of various size and scope. This position will be responsible for writing and fulfilling all requirements to ensure entitlement and competitive grants are accepted by the authorizing agent and reimbursable with federal funds. These include both public and private external entities, such as foundations, corporations, government, and other institutions. The Grant Coordinator will be responsible for continuously monitoring existing grant funds and coordinating with school leadership to establish budgets and track grant spending. This position will administer the grant budgets and finances as well as write high-quality grant proposals for competitive grants and assist in narrative writing for entitlement grants while simultaneously researching and soliciting new grant opportunities- competitive, entitlement and miscellaneous. The Grant Coordinator will work collaboratively across teams within the network.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**

  • Works with the Director of Federal Program and Grants (Vertex) to support LTS TX Grants.
  • Writes high-quality grant proposal narratives, applications, and supporting documents.
  • Manages complex grant development process, applying knowledge of educational content areas, district priorities, and proposal requirements to ensure that proposed strategies meet district needs while complying with State/Federal regulations and guidelines as well as grant specific guidelines.
  • Completes grant development process with minimal supervision, taking independent actions and making decisions as needed.
  • Ensures submission of complete and accurate applications within grant deadline.
  • Conducts prospect research to identify, cultivate and solicit new grants, provide recommendation on district eligibility and alignment of opportunities with district needs and priorities.
  • Administers the grant budgets at all applications schools.
  • Assist in the development of a computerized record-keeping system and maintaining current, accurate data on programs, inventories, and such other data which may be required for monitoring, auditing, reporting, and educational planning.
  • Monitors existing grant funds and coordinates with as well as trains school leadership to establish budgets and track grant spending.
  • Establishes operational objectives, work plans, timelines, and assignments for proposal development, determines how to use resources to meet objectives and schedule and collaborates with appropriate LTS staff.
  • Support campuses and LTS in the development and monitoring of all formula federal grant and local program requirements
  • Support campuses schools in annual development of the school improvement process (CNA, DIP and/or CIP) as it relates to Federal Grants and State Compensatory Education
  • Provide regular and timely federal grant application guidance, including the review and provision of feedback
  • Keep up to date with changing laws and guidelines, and communicate these items to charters, ensuring continued compliance
  • Ability to interpret complex grant funding requirements, submissions, and budget projections.
  • Ability to interpret and keep compliant federal, state, and local government laws and regulations regarding grant administration
  • Understand and interpret complex federal and state grant requirements and compliance rules, policies, and procedures. Support grant programs in data collection, analysis and reporting procedures, and continuous quality improvement. Prepare grant deliverables for community and district stakeholders
  • Report monthly on program activity and funds, including recommended amendments to campuses
  • Serve as a guide in answering grant-related inquiries on allowable versus unallowable costs, etc., ensuring expenditure compliance
  • Support campuses and LTS in meeting ongoing report submission requirements
  • Assess federal, state and local programs for effectiveness and compliance as assigned
  • Review and provide feedback on misc. grant applications as assigned
  • Attend relevant professional development and extended learning opportunities
  • Provide regular technical assistance, support, and feedback to schools and departments.
  • Use technology to examine grant applications, improvement plans, budgets and financial claims according to the policies and procedures of state and federal guidance.
  • Leverage experience in education, federal programs, data analysis, data management tools
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES**
Education, Licensure, or Certification**

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, education, public policy, or other related field required or grantsman experience equivalent
  • IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card required      

Work Experience or Related Experience**

  • 3-5 years of experience developing grant proposals.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop successful grant proposals.
  • Ability to analyze grant guidelines and apply comprehensive knowledge of educational content to grant requirements. Strong attention to detail is required.
  • Ability to work on multiple high-stakes, deadline-driven projects simultaneously.
  • Strong critical and analytical skills.

BACKGROUND CHECKS**

  • The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check
  • Must be able to obtain and hold a valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at all times

PHYSICAL AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT**

  • Travel between campuses is required.
  • Out-of-state travel required from time to time (5%).
  • This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.
  • This position may require sitting for long periods at times, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping and long periods of concentration.
