The Lake Placid Olympic Museum, located in the heart of Lake Placid in the historical Olympic Center, is seeking a motivated, customer-service oriented individual to help support the Museum’s guest service initiatives. This successful candidate will be responsible for helping oversee the experiences offered to visitors, assisting in the development of interpretive materials for community and school programs, and supporting marketing programs to appropriate audiences. In addition to the above, this person will work with ticket sales staff and reservations to help manage the museum’s services; provide support for visitor-centered programs in conjunction with current exhibitions; assist in social media strategies for the museum; assist with ticket sales; and other duties as directed. The Museum Guest Services position reports directly to the Museum Director.
Qualifications– The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, writing and public speaking skills, experience planning public-facing programs, and able to provide excellent customer service to our guests. In addition, s/he must be a highly organized individual, have the ability to work independently, and enjoy working in a team environment. Experience working in a museum and knowledge of the Olympic movement in general, winter sports, and a strong knowledge about the Olympic Games of Lake Placid are plusses. Weekend and some evening hours are required.
Compensation: Wage subject to skills and qualifications. Excellent benefit package pursuant to ORDA/CSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement including: paid time off (vacation, sick, and personal leave); paid holidays; health, dental, and vision insurances; pension plan via the NYS and Local Retirement Systems; along with optional participation in NYS Deferred Compensation – a qualified 457-b retirement savings plan.
