SUPERVISOR NAME: Dignorah Laporte


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Licensed and appointed NYCDOE Health Education, Physical Education, or other subject certified teacher


SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • At least three (3) years of satisfactory experience within the NYCDOE.
  • Proficient in implementation of high-quality skills-based health education and/or physical education instruction.
  • Proficient understanding of National Health Education Standards and/or NYS and National Physical Education Standards.
  • Teachers certified in subjects other than health and/or physical education should have experience championing wellness in their school and/or developing standards-based resources.
  • Experience presenting workshops or trainings for Physical or Health Educations teachers. Preference for teachers with previous acceptance in National, State or local conferences.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to collaborate with teachers and OSWP team members during teacher-focused planning meetings.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and facilitate an online professional learning opportunity for health education and/or physical education teachers in June (Chancellor’s Conference Days).
  • Collaborate with Office of School Wellness Programs and NYCDOE staff for content review and approval.
  • Develop and share standards/skills-based health education and/or physical education resources with colleagues.
  • Review and share feedback with Office of School Wellness Programs staff on Physical Education, Health Education, and School Wellness workshops, policies, and best practices.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Schedule to be determined and will remain subject to change and funding ability. Specific hours and schedules not guaranteed.

  • Remainder of SY22-23
  • Approximately 4 hours available per person, but not limited to that amount. Additional hours granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.
  • Specific hours and schedule are not guaranteed. Schedule to be determined and will remain subject to change based on project and funding ability.

Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.


SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
