Position Description & Details
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
- Responsible for the overall leadership of the football program. Est. Time Allocation: 100%
- Formulate and implement a successful philosophy to promote the educational, physical and mental welfare of the student-athlete.
- Develop a competitive program that will represent the institution and community in a positive manner.
- Develop recruitment plan and actively recruit high quality, high achieving student athletes.
- Prepare yearly budget for the program.
- Work with Athletic Administration to purchase all relevant equipment and maintain records of all purchases.
- Work with Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance and Student Life to ensure all players meet applicable eligibility requirements and prepare all necessary forms on a timely basis.
- Develop practice and training schedule.
- Make all travel arrangements for team and recruiting.
- Conduct fundraising activities to supplement program budget.
- Conduct and direct instructional camps for area youth.
- Work with Assistant Director of Athletics for Communication and Media Relations on providing program information and statistics to media and fans via all available forms.
- Develop and actively participate in a plan to enhance public relations for the football program.
- Track academic progress of student-athletes within the program.
- Establish and maintain an ethical and moral code of behavior and living that is expected of all players within the program.
- Develop practice schedules and teach the fundamental skills of the game.
- Follow all NCAA, conference and institutional policies.
- Actively participate in campus committees and forums.
- Support the philosophy and mission of the athletic department and Minot State University.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Competencies
Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree is required
Master’s degree preferred
Minimum five (5) years coaching experience at the college level
Demonstrated administrative and organizational experience as a collegiate football coach
Candidates must have the ability to successfully impart sport-specific knowledge
The demonstrated ability to identify and recruit student-athletes
This position requires well-developed communication skills, as well as strong time management and organizational skills
The demonstrated ability to manage a budget
The ability to work weekends and evenings is required. This position requires extensive travel, both in recruiting and to games
