Healthcare Paralegal
Amundsen Davis, a full-service business law firm, is seeking an experienced Healthcare Paralegal to join a great team in support of the representation of hospitals, health care professionals, medical groups, and long term care facilities.
Position Summary
This position conducts review and analysis of medical, billing, insurance, education, employment, and other records relevant to civil cases including (but not limited to) alleged medical malpractice, violations of state acts, and medical devices. Analysis includes valuation of cases and assessment of liability including areas of exposure. The position includes working with attorneys, experts, and ancillary staff to facilitate case conclusions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Review and summarize medical records
- Conduct legal and expert witness research
- Organize electronic and physical files, and various other litigation functions
- Must be highly organized, able to juggle multiple deadlines and priorities, be familiar with billing entry, and familiar with Microsoft Office/Word and Excel.
Education and Experience
- Minimum two years experience with medical record review and/or analysis is required.
- Two to four years of experience in a healthcare focused practice group in a litigation firm is strongly preferred.
- Insurance defense experience preferred.
- College degree, preferred
- Paralegal certificate, preferred
