Overview: Colonna's Shipyard is looking to obtain Janitorial Helper within our Fabrication Department.

Need is for Helpers (entry level) for immediate work in Norfolk, VA.

This is a full-time position with competitive pay, based on experience.
Responsibilities:

• Cleaning to include sweeping, shoveling, mopping, scrubbing, and/or raking of ships, bulkheads, compartments, tanks, facilities, dry docks, railways, parking areas, and buildings using industrial vacuums, brooms, shovels, power machines, etc…
• Will lift and carry trash, steel, scrap, steel, palettes, wood scraps, and all other trash to proper containers
• Moving of furniture cabinets, boxes, and equipment
• Stain removal of sidewalks, rugs, drapes, walls, decks, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions
• Using ladders and JLG’s to dust, wash and/or clean fixtures, ceilings, overheads, etc…
• May sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow or perform or incidental seasonal tasks
• Choose appropriate tools and equipment for the completion of one’s duties
• Exposure to an environment with extreme temperatures
• Firewatch responsibility and duties
• Other job related duties as assigned
• Understand and act upon instruction
• Work independently to complete responsibilities
• Must have regular, reliable attendance

-Will be required to wear personal protective equipment- hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots/shoes and, when necessary, resporator

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Successful career experience with the machining trade

• Technical training preferred

• Must be able to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings and other technical trade related documents

• Mechanical ability, manual dexterity, and hand/eye coordination required to perform various projects, per drawings, sketches, and verbal or written instructions

• All applicants must be able to obtain a DBIDS due to the location of some jobs.
