POSITION: BUSINESS TEACHER-HIGH SCHOOL

REQUIREMENTS: Teaching Certification (GX) Business Education 6-12 endorsement or (GQ) Business Management Marketing 6-12 endorsement preferred. MUST MEET “HIGHLY QUALIFIED” STANDARDS AS SPECIFIED BY NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND

START DATE: 2023- 2024 School Year

SUMMARY:

This Teacher s is responsible for leading the instructional program and implementing activities for high school students.

RESPONSIBILITES: Delivers instruction in all 12 segments during the first year. Completes crosswalks for all foundation skills. Organizes and facilitates a minimum of 2 advisory committee meetings each year. Build/sustain community/industry involvement to promote program support and student opportunities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :

Teaching Certification with (GX) Business Education 6-12 endorsement or and (GQ) Business Management Marketing 6-12 endorsement preferred.

Preferred candidates:

  • Will have a positive attitude and be able to appropriately relate to all students, staff, administrators, parents, advisory committee, etc.;
  • Will be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Will have experience teaching, supervising, counseling, or mentoring teenagers;
  • Will be able to demonstrate basic user competencies in Microsoft and Google software and the ability to learn school-related software packages (attendance, State reporting, etc.)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

None

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to create, read and comprehend instructions, formal correspondence, emails and memos. Ability to write clearly and effectively. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small and large group situations to student, parents, employers and staff.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform basic arithmetical calculation.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized and unique situations.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Highly skilled in use of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher. Excellent data input and manipulation required. Ability to operate typewriter, photocopying machines and computers. Ability to assume responsibility for supervising students, understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, media, employers and local community members. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Driver’s License required as travel between schools and to community employers is frequent.
