About the Position NRHA seeks qualified candidates for the position of HomeNet Homeownership Counselor. HomeNet is a full-service Housing Counseling Center that partners with local lending institutions, attorneys, home developers, realtors, government housing agencies, and landlords. HomeNet assist prospective homebuyers in achieving homeownership; provide rental counseling to prevent eviction and homelessness; assist Housing Choice Voucher participants to transition from rental to homeownership utilizing the HCV. The Counselor;provides counseling and training services to HomeNet clients andprovides case management in assisting clients remove barriers to achiever their outcomes or purchasing and successfully renting.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

Recruiting and enrolling prospective homebuyers, existing homeowners, and renters to participate as clients in HomeNet programs

Counseling clients in home pre-purchase, rental, loan default, and home post-purchase matters as applicable

Assisting clients in developing and carrying out practical strategies for achieving homeownership, obtaining home loans, identifying affordable housing, negotiating down-payment assistance, and otherwise assisting to create client overall financial and homeownership stability

Coordinating client eligibility, financial standing, and home purchase closing matters with lenders, NRHA staff, builders, real estate agents, and closing parties

Conducting housing education workshops

Interviewing client homeowners and renters to identify financial histories and, if applicable, the causes of any payment defaults or delinquencies

Monitoring, tracking, and reporting on homeownership client activity during and after the home purchasing process

Maintaining and assuring the security of client records, includes documenting all contacts made with customers and with all third parties per HUD guidelines.

Preparing and submitting a variety of standard and ad hoc reports

About the Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have:

A minimum of an Associates degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, or Human Services

A minimum of two (2) years’ progressively responsible consumer lending and financial customer service

Certification as a Housing Counselor; Virginia Housing Train-the-Trainer certification, Rental Eviction Intervention Certification Loss Mitigation certification, and Foreclosure Prevention certification are required.

NRHA will consider equivalent substitutes for education and/or experience, provided that the candidate can demonstrate that he/she has obtained the knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the job.

NRHA offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. The current pay range for this job is from $37,710 to $65,686. A candidate's compensation offer will be determined by the candidate's work history and skill sets. The benefit package assigned to this position include retirement, health, dental, vision, life insurance, Public Service Loan Forgiveness, and much more.

NRHA offers a total of $3,000 in bonus payments to new hires in this position. A 180-day employment period is required to qualify for the full bonus amount.
