Position Summary:
Reporting to the Lift Team Supervisor, the Hosp. Lift Team Assistant assists direct patient care providers with safe patient handling. The Lift Team Assistant strives to promote an environment of safe patient handling which provides for the safety of our patients while maintaining a safe work environment for the patient care providers. Provides direct patient care as well as education and training for the health care providers in the use of lift techniques and transfer equipment.

Essential Job Functions:

PNT_CARE Transports patients, equipment, supplies, and other items throughout the hospital in a safe and timely manner. Complies with all infection control measures using Universal Body Substance Precautions as appropriate. Uses appropriate body mechanics for all work activities.
PNT_CARE Assesses the need for lift transfer assistive devices and utilizes each in a safe and appropriate manner. Safely performs complex lifts, transfers, & positioning with multiple lines, traction, and ventilation equipment etc., in coordination with the healthcare team. Provides effective training to staff, patients, and patient families regarding the use of lift and transfer techniques and equipment
PNT_CARE Ensures equipment is in proper working order; cleans and disinfects as needed or required. Maintains inventory & records of equipment. Delivers, retrieves, and properly returns equipment to storage, keeping work area clean and organized, and traffic pathways clear
PNT_CARE Communicates all relevant observations related to patient care to the patient care team and appropriately documents transport activities through to completion in the patient flow application; clocking in and out in a timely manner

Required Qualifications:
Minimum six months experience in a healthcare environment or training in a healthcare/emergency/rescue field
Skill to perform basic mathematical computations, and to use general office equipment including computers, copiers, and calculators
Must be available to work overtime as patient care needs demand
Current BLS certification required by time of hire
