Dual Property Controller
Hotel Retlaw, Trademark Collection by Wyndham (Fond du Lac, WI) and Embassy Suites Milwaukee Brookfield (WI)
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under general supervision, assists in the management of all aspects of the inner control in accordance with established accounting procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure sufficient separation of duties as required for internal controls.
Proper adherence to property audit and collection procedures.
Reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
Monitor and report on property to adhere to internal controls via discrepancy reports and memos to department heads.
Production of monthly financial statement package.
Adherence to all purchasing policies.
Responsible for maintenance and disposition of all in-house funds.
To ensure adherence to hotel policy and procedures for purchase and disbursement of house funds.
Prepare and distribute weekly payroll checks.
Review and input of Daily Revenue reports to ensure all item are checked in accordance to audit check list.
Maintain a friendly, cheerful and courteous manner at all times.
All other duties assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor and prepare monthly payment of all account payables.
Ensure proper coding on all allowance and miscellaneous charge vouchers.
Completion of Daily Audit Discrepancy reports.
Prepare all monthly tax returns.
Prepare daily cash bank deposits.
Conduct monthly bank counts of in-house funds.
Review petty cash voucher for proper documentation.
Prepare change orders.
Maintain house fund contract file.
Maintain daily over/short listings by employee.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES
Oversees and performs the accounting responsibilities of the entire hotel. To include verification of credit card deposits, accuracy of daily payroll reports, proper posting of all checks that are received through the mail.
Supervise technical reporting of night audit function, work with Front Office Manager to correct deficiencies.
Participate in Manager on Duty program when scheduled.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge
Must have advanced knowledge in the following areas:
Cash handling
Accounts Payable/Accounts Recievable
General Ledger Accounts
Payroll
Night Audit Procedures
Revenue Journals
Development of P&L Statements
Audit and Collection Procedures
Tax Reporting
AA Degree in Accounting or minimum of four years previous hotel accounting experience at this level.
Advanced familiarity with personal computers and computerized cash register systems.
Must have knowledge of customer service skills.
Must be fluent in oral and written English.
Skills
Must have vision to read written communiques and monochrome computer screen.
Must have hand and finger dexterity to operate computer, calculator and telephone keyboards for cash handling and paperwork processing.
Must have upper body, hand and finger dexterity to grasp, reach and bend to retrieve supplies and use equipment.
Must have lower body strength to negotiate the stair case to the second floor Executive Offices.
Ability
Must be able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions, work on more than one task at a time, tolerate interruptions and be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
Must be able to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of customer service or staff problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations.
Must be highly organized and able to pay attention to minute written and verbal details, particularly when performing multiple tasks.
Must be able to instruct others in the correct accounting procedures in accordance with established policies.
Educational/Formal Training
Bachelor Degree in Accounting or equivalent accounting background.
Experience
Should have a minimum of two years experience in a similar hotel accounting position.
Materials/Equipment Used
Standard office equipment including but not limited to: telephone, copier, cash register, 10 key, PC, PMS and fax machine.
Environment
Prolonged setting at indoor, climate-controlled work station under florescent lighting.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
