By offering your time and talent as a Housing Resource Navigator, you can help people overcome barriers and achieve their housing goals. Heading Home Corps provides you with valuable, hands-on experience in housing advocacy, social services, and public assistance programs. You provide the compassion, dedication, and time that our communities need.
We are currently recruiting for the 2023-24 program year with opportunities beginning in July, August, October or January. This is an AmeriCorps member position with Heading Home Corps. Join an amazing cohort of Housing Resource Navigators from all backgrounds and experiences.
What to Expect:- Help individuals experiencing homelessness achieve their housing goals.
- Assist clients in navigating social services resources, programs, and benefit systems.
- Foster strong relationships to help clients build their confidence and skills.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
- Gain hands-on experience in social services while embedded in a local organization.
- Share your experience with the wider community as a Heading Home Corps ambassador.
Serve as a Housing Resource Navigators and receive a scalable perks package based on your time commitment of 40 or 25 hours per week.
40 hours/week perks:
- A stipend of $1,100 paid every 2 weeks
- $26,400 total for 1,700 hours of service starting in July 2023
- $25,300 total for 1,700 hours of service starting in August 2023
- $20,900 total for 1,200 hours of service starting in October 2023
- $14,300 total for 900 hours of service starting in January 2024
- Up to $6,895 for tuition or student loans*
- $6,495 total for members beginning their service in July 2023
- $6,895 total for members beginning their service in August 2023
- $4,826 total for members beginning their service in October 2023
- $3,447 total for members beginning their service in January 2024
- Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment
- Individual health insurance — Monthly premium 100% covered
- Child care assistance — Based on family size and income
25 hours/week perks:
- A stipend of $650 paid every 2 weeks
- $15,600 total for 900 hours of service starting in July 2023
- $14,300 total for 900 hours of service starting in August 2023
- $11,700 total for 675 hours of service starting in October 2023
- $7,800 total for 450 hours of service starting in January 2024
- Up to $3,447 for tuition or student loans*
- $3,247 total for members beginning their service in July 2023
- $3,447 total for members beginning their service in August 2023
- $2,626 total for members beginning their service in October 2023
- $1,824 total for members beginning their service in January 2024
- Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment
- The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award can be used to pay tuition or repay qualified student loans. Individuals 55+ at the start of their service term may gift their award to their child, grandchild, foster child or stepchild.
Our Navigators come from all walks of life. The most important qualification is a passion to take action for your community – and meet the following minimum qualifications. By the time they begin their service, our Navigators are:
- Dependable and have a history of good attendance
- Able to understand and follow instructions
- Able to set a pace and maintain a service schedule of 40 or 25 hours per week, depending on the agreed upon hours commitment
- Competent with basic computer skills (like email and navigating online)
- Fluent in English
- 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
- A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States*
- Able to successfully complete a background check
- Applicants who have received deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are not eligible to serve as AmeriCorps members at this time.
