Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a HR Generalist.
Rock West Composites, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for commercial and government customers. This position is located in our West Jordan location and reports to the Director of HR.
Position Summary:
The HR Generalist will undertake a wide range of HR tasks and will use HR Systems to ensure all employee records are up-to-date and confidential. Will also act as a point of contact for employees’ queries on HR-related topics. This position’s primary focus is on compliance, employee relations and is responsible for HR administration, but has secondary recruiting responsibilities.
Essential Functions:
HR Administrator:
- Maintenance of HRIS
- Maintenance of personnel records
- Conduct new hire orientation. Make improvements to new hire orientation and on-boarding experience
- Assist the Human Resources Team with on-going projects and programs.
- Provide an effective and dedicated HR advisory service to employees in relation to absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievance matters, organizational change, and all other employee-relations matters
- Assist in development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and standard reports for ongoing company requirements
- Assist in administering compensation and employee performance programs
- Suggest new procedures and policies to continually improve efficiency of the HR department and organization as a whole, and to improve employee experience
- Ensure legal compliance of HR state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and/or procedures as required
- Work with managers to ensure trainings are recorded and up to date to comply with AS9100 record keeping standards and company training metrics
- Facilitate various employee surveys as needed
- Organize and conduct employee morale events
- Organize and conduct company wellness program
- Reviewing and correcting timecards weekly and timely
- Oversee Utah timecard process
- Set-up drug screens for new hires
- Under general direction, ensures timely processing of workers' compensation claims; evaluates accident reports to determine accuracy and completeness and to ensure adequate investigation; ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Engages with WC broker liaisons to: Review accident reports to identify patterns of injury and to determine whether unsafe conditions contributed to the accident; advises department manager of trends in injuries and proper safety procedures that may result in reduction of injuries; provides department with information that will aid in reducing accidents and improve safety.
Recruiter:
- Full cycle recruiting for entry-level and non-technical talent; source potential candidates from various online channels (e.g. job boards, LinkedIn, social media)
- Design and update job descriptions
- Interview candidates (via phone, video and in-person)
- Advertise job openings on company’s careers page, social media, job boards and internally
- Coordinating interviews with the hiring managers.
- Send job offer emails and answer queries about compensation and benefits
- Negotiates compensation as appropriate
- Performing reference and background checks
- Staying current on the company’s organization structure, personnel policy, and federal and state laws regarding employment practices
- Participate in job fairs and host in-house recruitment events
- Affirmative Action applicant tracking
- Creating and completing timely reports on employment activity and tracking metrics
- Performs outreach as required per the affirmative action plan
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Required Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of general HR experience
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required
- HR Certification preferred (PHR, SHRM-CP)
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
- Strong Excel skills
- Strong verbal, written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently, remain flexible, and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills, resourceful and attention to detail, producing accurate deliverables.
- Sound judgment capability
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment law
- Thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies
- Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
- Proficient in MS Office, HRIS systems, and comfortable learning new technical systems as needed. ATS experience preferred
- Excellent ethics and cultural awareness
