Job Summary
The Human Resources Business Partner engages with assigned departments and campus leadership in a manner that supports Georgia Gwinnett College's commitment to our mission and student success. Specifically, the Partner collaborates with stakeholders, campus leadership and other HR resources to develop and implement initiatives that support attainment of institution and HR goals within the business units. This position helps support a positive campus culture acting as both a change agent and champion for employee engagement, talent acquisition, professional development and retention. This position also serves in a collaborative capacity by partnering with leaders to engage employees in the many important touch points, interactions, and activities that span the employment life cycle.

Responsibilities
- Serves as a first point of contact for assigned departments to support strengthened employee relationships and engagement.
- Maintain a high level of business literacy as it relates to the assigned department's financial position, culture and engagement, objectives, goals, and relevant HR-metrics in order to develop practical solutions that are responsive to the needs, responsibilities, and objectives of assigned business areas.
- Serves as subject matter expert providing counsel and guidance on specialized area of responsibility including, but not limited to matters relating to employee relations, recruitment, talent development, and HRIS.
- Assess and anticipate HR-related needs for their assigned departments, including identifying gaps and issues surrounding department operations and employee performance.
- In partnership with subject matter experts, coordinate and make recommendations to the division regarding available training and HR programs to assist divisional leadership with retention, staff development, performance management and employee relations.
- Provide guidance and assistance to assigned departments on human resources transactions; Oversee and process employee transactions of assigned unit. Provides guidance, and creative solutions to assigned unit's leadership, employees, and/or members of the College in the application of specified human resources strategic initiatives, policies, procedures, legal compliance and documentation.
- Participate in the candidate screening/interviewing process as requested to ensure new hires align with the institution's mission, vision and values. Help oversee and create/update job descriptions to attract talented candidates.
- In collaboration with campus partners identify and address internal needs by building, maintaining, and utilizing network relationships. Works in partnership with HR leadership to develop and establish a culture that advocates collaboration, accountability, and employee recognition.
- Develop and implement best practices in the areas of responsibility that support a thriving and engaged workforce and a positive workplace culture at GGC; other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 3+ years' experience in a progressively responsible Human Resources role; preferably a Generalist or Business Partner role
Preferred Qualifications
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification
- Experience with PeopleSoft
