Responsibilities:
What you’ll do
Wieland is hiring a Human Resource Generalist to support various facilities in ensuring smooth and efficient business operations. You will be responsible for performing administrative and strategic functions such as maintaining benefits programs, supporting HR compliance, and executing personnel procedures & policies. This role will be located in Waterbury, CT but will support other sites in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New York, and New Jersey. This role will require travel.

The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of employment, compensation, organizational planning, employee relations, and training and development. A HR Management Certification, PHR, or SHRM-CP Certification is preferred.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist in developing and executing personnel procedures and policies, and provide guidance and interpretation for business operations
  • Follows Wieland Human Resources policies to assure compliance with legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions
  • Guides employees with benefits programs such as disability insurances, sick leave, leave of absence and employee assistance.
  • Suggest new procedures and policies for improving employee experience as well as the efficiency of HR department and company
  • Ensure compliance with local and national regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and procedures when necessary
  • Assist in administering the Collective Bargaining Agreement to ensure compliance
  • Assist in the grievance process for 1st and 2nd step
  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation.
  • Administer attendance program at Thin Strip
  • Write up Attendance Discipline for supervisor to deliver to employee.
  • Address employee concerns and issues
  • Work with supervisors to review discipline before delivering
  • Plans and manages all employee functions
  • Supports HR compliance and provides counsel for employee relations
  • Administer various human resource related programs
  • Maintain employee records in compliance with state and federal requirements
  • Administers pre-employment testing of candidates for employment
  • Serves as a backup for HR Manager as needed
  • Process Monthly SMART union dues through the SMWNBF Internet Payment System
  • Enter Data for Workers’ Compensation claims – CCSMI (ICE) system
Qualifications:
What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2 to 4 years related experience
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce or similar payroll systems preferred
  • Travel up to 50% of the time
  • Well-developed administrative skills
  • Excellent computer skills, project management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Must have professional attitude
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
