Summary:

The Human Resource (HR) Specialist will work as a member of the HR department in a rapidly changing, complex and fast-paced federal space environment and serves as support to the HR Generalists with transactional HR processes.
Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions:
  • Responsible for offboarding employees to include processing termination PANs, providing offboarding paperwork to employees via ADP and conducting exit interviews.
  • Provide support to HR Generalists by processing all PANs to include: job changes, supervisor changes, terminations, salary increases, etc.
  • Track employees on leave and assist HR Generalists with leave administration and collecting benefit payments.
  • Works with HR Coordinator on Onboarding (processing new hires) and Orientation.
  • Acts as Recruiting Coordinator for Alaska Operations team and provides support in posting requisitions, advancing candidates, drafting offers, and performing background checks.
  • Provides support to Alaska Operations HR Generalist in seasonal recruitment, hiring and onboarding.
  • Answers and assists employees with basic questions regarding their employment and Goldbelt’s policies and systems. Trained as back up for data entry to provide surge support as needed.
  • Assist with employee benefit questions and concerns.
  • Assist with open enrollment by explaining benefits and any changes from previous year, assist employees with preparation of paperwork and answer questions.
  • Develops a reputation as a neutral and approachable HR Specialist focused on employees, front and mid-level managers as well as the organization.
  • Maintain legally compliant personnel documentation and records management.
Qualifications:
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
  • Position requires attention to detail and organization to process a high volume of work.
  • Must be able to interact with a wide variety of staff and senior management.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent listening and comprehension skills.
  • Ability to reason and analyze problems.
  • Must demonstrate excellent attention-to-detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Must have the ability to independently establish priorities and accomplish work within time constraints.
  • Must be solution oriented.
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to deal confidentially with sensitive information.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • One (1) or more years of office experience working in a similar or relevant environment.
  • Must be a team-player and be willing to be hands-on with tactical duties with an ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Must have broad HR expertise, strong business acumen, be able to think big-picture, and be resourceful in creating solutions.
  • Must be able to diagnose and support data-driven decision-making and have demonstrated experience leading and driving change within client groups.
  • Must possess good project management and organizational skills and have a strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related field.
  • SHRM-CP; SHRM-SCP; PHR or SPHR.
  • ADP Workforce Now and Deltek experience.
  • Experience working for a government contractor or other highly regulated environment preferred.
  • Alaskan Native experience a plus.
