Human Resources is dedicated to accuracy, efficiency, and providing excellent customer service. The HR Technician position is a first contact customer service position and provides a great opportunity to learn or increase basic human resources knowledge and skills. This position performs customer service duties, answering employee questions via phone, email, and in person. The major responsibilities in this position include acting as the first point of contact for all employee inquiries, appropriately handling sensitive employee issues, ensuring that employee information is entered correctly, and researching and resolving questions and issues related to that information.
University of Utah HR Management is currently piloting Hybrid work. The HR Technician will work a minimum of 1 day per week from HR located in downtown SLC, and the remaining days from home. This position is eligible for 100% remote work for rural Utah employees.

Responsibilities
- Maintains employee benefits, payroll, and personnel records in the HRIS system.
- Ensures applicant and current employee records are accurate and complete.
- Administers HR-related processes compliant with applicable laws, rules, and regulations under supervision.
- Reviews and maintains confidential benefits, training, personnel, and employee files.
- Handles human resources questions, concerns, and changes for employees; also acts as a resource to individuals in departments.
This position may also include additional front desk duties such as:
- Provides customer service at the front desk of Human Resources Management.
- Greets and routes visitors, answers phone calls, responds to emails, verification of employment, and other duties as assigned.
- Works with accuracy, and detail, and maintains confidentiality with a high level of integrity.
- Uses computer daily (Outlook, MS Office, PeopleSoft), sorts and routes mail, and performs a variety of administrative tasks as needed.
- Assists in special projects throughout the Human Resources department as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years office experience with at least one year experience in Human Resources or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required. Data entry experience is preferred. This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.
