Description
The Division of State Risk and Insurance Services is the state agency charged with risk management of perils that might result in a loss related to all of the state's owned assets. Those assets include real property and business/personal property.
The risk management process includes: identifying potential exposures to loss, analyzing those loss exposures, evaluating the most cost effective method to address the risk, select and implement the technique and monitoring the results.
We are looking for an experienced, professional Insurance Risk Manager, to analyze and manage risk issues for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
The Risk Manager's responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
The risk management process includes: identifying potential exposures to loss, analyzing those loss exposures, evaluating the most cost effective method to address the risk, select and implement the technique and monitoring the results.
We are looking for an experienced, professional Insurance Risk Manager, to analyze and manage risk issues for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
The Risk Manager's responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Establish and meet with state facility contacts.
- Conduct detailed risk assessments on owned assets located statewide.
- Conduct extensive research and assessments to evaluate potential exposures to loss.
- Develop contingency plans and solutions that reduce and control risk and liabilities.
- Examine feasible alternatives for treating and managing risk exposures.
- Effectively implement and monitor risk management plans to ensure ongoing effectiveness.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent customer service,
- Strong, professional written and verbal communication,
- Strong analytical and problem-solving,
- Map (geographical and building blue prints) reading,
- Computer literacy.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in insurance, risk management, business administration or a related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Seven years of experience in risk management in a corporate, governmental, brokerage, or consulting environment.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate study in insurance, risk management, or business administration will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis OR certification as an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or as a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) by the Insurance Institute of America will substitute for one year of the experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in risk management in a corporation, governmental, brokerage or consulting environment will substitute for the college education on a year for year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Typically works in an office environment. May occasionally visit property sites and insurance agencies or carriers.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
