Job Summary
The Harvard University Police Department, Division of Special Operations consists of 2 sub-units: dignitary protection and special event planning. As part of the Harvard University Police Department Dignitary Team, the Intelligence Analyst gathers intelligence information from confidential information sources, or public record. They analyze, correlate, or evaluate information from a variety of resources, such as law enforcement databases; and produce reports of all information.
Position Description
- Analyze intelligence collected from global sources in order to identify threats to the Harvard community, visitors, and guests and to Harvard property and reputation, domestically and internationally, in order to inform decision-making by appropriate University officials.
- Develop threat and risk assessments based on all available information using generally accepted standards consistent with HUPD policies and which conform to federal guidelines.
- Develop reporting and assessments based on all available information
- Develop relationships, manage networks, and facilitate information sharing with contacts in the intelligence and law enforcement community
- Integrate the cultural context from foreign sources
- Work effectively with a cross functional team
- Apply knowledge to assess vulnerabilities in daily operation
- Participation in the Boston Regional Intelligence Center (BRIC) daily conference call.
- Produce daily report/ briefing of all collection data
- Responsible for the organization and implementation of administrative systems and procedures
- Conceptualize and create presentation materials
- Work under tight deadlines
- May perform other related duties
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Minimum 3 years office experience in administrative role
- Must possess strong computer skills in Excel, PowerPoint, charts, data sets / data bases, cyber environments, social media
Additional Qualifications and Skills
- 3 years’ experience in intelligence gathering and reporting preferred
- Higher education degree preferred
- Strong computer / cyber skills

- Knowledge and understanding of different cultures and regions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High level of discretion, confidentiality, and attention to detail
