Schedule: 24 hours, Nights - 2-12 hour shifts, Weekend Incentive, holiday rotation.
The Intensive Care Unit is a Silver Beacon Award for Excellence Winner from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses! The ICU is led collaboratively by nursing and medical teams in conjunction to multidisciplinary teams and is known for teamwork amongst all members of the patient care team. Nursing leadership is whole-heartedly invested in helping their nurses reach their full potential by providing support and opportunities to sharpen their skills.
The BWFH ICU is a critical care unit caring for a diverse adult patient population requiring frequent monitoring. This includes patients diagnosed with critical medical illnesses, surgical patients requiring a higher level of hemodynamic monitoring and/or ventilator support, and patients needing surgical intervention may be admitted directly from the operating room to the ICU for post-operative care. The ICU accepts patients from affiliated organizations and other hospitals throughout New England. When a patient requires a specialty service not provided at BWFH, a transfer to the affiliate academic medical center is arranged.
The ICU RN is a professional nurse registered in Massachusetts who is responsible and accountable for planning and providing patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care as set forth in the Nursing Department’s Clinical Practice Manual. Demonstrates initiative, knowledge and clinical skills in caring for the patient with complex needs. Ability to effectively manage patients by assuming full responsibility for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of patient care and is directly responsible to a designated nurse manager, or supervisor. - CCRN preferred.
- Massachusetts Registered Nurse Licensure required.
- BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers and ACLS required.
- ICU experience preferred.
- Must be comfortable with ventilators, pressors, multiple infusions, hemodynamic monitoring.
- Ability to contribute to the functioning of a Magnet seeking ICU.
- Must be a strong patient advocate.
- Adheres to all I.C.A.R.E. standards.
- Must show evidence of the basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients.
