Located in Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses in Wellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant and inclusive educational community and have a desire and ability to work with a diverse population. This is a part-time position with no benefits.


Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Coordinate use of various hardware and software related to job duties, including adaptive/assistive technology, voice activation, FM loop, speech synthesis, iPad technology, and screen readers;
  • Provide support and advising to students with disabilities (physical, learning, and/or psychiatric), including reviewing and evaluating medical documentation, conducting intake interviews, responding to emails in the ARC inbox, advising students on course selection, and facilitating reasonable accommodations;
  • Evaluate students' assistive technology needs and recommend cost-effective resources;
  • Assume primary responsibility within department for teaching students, staff, and faculty how to use the most up-to-date assistive technology;
  • Coordinate conversion of Accessibility Resources records and documents into effective alternative format media and coordinates process of students requesting alternate-format texts;
  • Help coordinate ASL interpreter and CART needs for Accessibility Resources;
  • Provide testing accommodations for students;
  • Collaborate closely and communicate regularly with Director of Accessibility Resources, Director of Academic Achievement Center, IT staff, and with other college staff and faculty;
  • Conduct classes and workshops for students, staff, and faculty on issues of disability in higher education, including universal design;
  • Serve as an academic advisor for assigned students;
  • Refer students to appropriate college services (e.g. Peer Tutoring, Reading and Writing Center, Math and Science Center, Counseling, Academic Advising, etc.);
  • Perform administrative tasks associated with department needs, including but not limited to assisting with grant writing and reporting, collecting statistics, providing budgetary input, maintaining electronic and print records, and organizing office files;
  • Attend and participate in department meetings and professional development;
  • Serve on college-wide committees and governance, including EdTech; participate as needed in other college-wide initiatives, such as recruitment, orientation, open houses, and graduation;
  • Serve as a point person for closed captioning questions at the College;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Special Education, Education Psychology, Counseling, Deaf Education, or closely related field; with three (3) years experience and/or training that includes college-level learning disability services, learning disability assessment, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)/Section 504 compliance, development of policies/procedures, teaching, or curriculum development; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Salary Range:
$30.03 per hour
