Job Description:

Purpose: To support Meow Wolf’s Exhibitions Retail Inventory segment in the interpretation, preparation, and maintenance of financial records.
Location: WFH/ Remote friendly.
Compensation: Compliant to CO labor law, the salary range for CO residents is $56k - $80k. Compensation for candidates outside of CO may vary based upon location and experience.

The Inventory Accountant will support Meow Wolf’s Exhibitions Retail Inventory segment. This role will regularly interact with internal partners across Warehouse Operations, Retail Operations, and Merchandise as well as internal Senior Accounting Staff and Exhibition General Managers.

As Inventory Accountant, you will utilize thorough knowledge of accounting for retail merchandise inventory, monitoring transactions, updating general ledgers, gathering and analyzing data, performing audits and assessments, managing inventory valuation per GAAP, and producing regular inventory reports.

You will be instrumental in helping to maintain and expand the financial health of Meow Wolf’s Exhibitions Retail Inventory segment.

How you will do it…

• Develop inventory analysis reports and analyze variances.

• Assist in the improvement in internal controls related to inventory.

• Monitor inventory transactions.

• Reconcile inventory accounts to the general ledger.

• Manage inventory valuation per GAAP.

• Prepare monthly journal entries.

• Calculate inventory reserve valuation reserves.

• Participate in yearly physical inventory audits.

• Work closely with and collaborate with Warehouse and Retail operations to develop standard operating procedures relating to the receiving and transferring of inventory.

• Safeguard all assets in compliance with internal controls and procedures.

• Highly organized, a self-starter, with great attention to detail, enjoy taking on assigned tasks and be flexible to the exciting nature of a growing company.

• Strong knowledge of accounting, reconciling, general ledger, financial statements, journal entries and month end closing.

What you will bring…

• Minimum of 2 to 3 years progressive accounting experience in a related industry.

• Four-year college degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field experience.

• Workday, Dynamics Business Central 365, and Expensify.

• Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

• Square POS and Retail Inventory Platforms.

Work environment & physical demands…

• This is a full-time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

• This role will support Exhibition Retail Inventory in Santa Fe, NM, Denver, CO, Las Vegas, NV and all future Meow Wolf Exhibits with event space.

• This position is WFH/ Remote friendly and a company laptop will be provided.

• Travel is required for this position up to 30% of the time.

• Must be readily available for Slack, email and phone communications. Must be proficient in Zoom screen share presenting.

• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
