Government organization seeking an Investigative Audit Manager to join their team. This role will conduct areas of the audit or review with limited supervision. This auditor will be responsible for investigating fraud, waste, abuse, or other improper activities. The position is a flexible, hybrid model in downtown Raleigh.
Responsibilities:
- Plan several investigations under the supervision of an audit director
- Manage investigations of alleged fraud, waste, and abuse of funds with continuous monitoring efforts and analytics
- Conduct investigations in compliance with standards, internal policies and procedures, and investigative best practices
- Supervise and review the work of assigned audit staff to ensure necessary data is collected through appropriate audit techniques
- Analyze and evaluate data and prepare formal reports of audit findings and recommendations
- Analyze claims data for patterns of fraud; analyze financial records; interview witnesses
- Conduct on-site fieldwork to determine risks impacting the investigation
- Use a broad range of investigative techniques including background checks, research, financial data analysis, and document examination to collect and analyze evidence
- Confirm accuracy, integrity, and conformance to rules, regulations, standards
- Identify substantive issues requiring research and analysis and recognize deficiencies in controls or other weaknesses
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelors degree with at least 24 course hours in Accounting
- 5+ years of experience in auditing/accounting, at least 1 year in a supervisory role
- Public accounting experience
- MBA, MPA, CIA, or CPA is preferred
- Strong multitasking capabilities
- Ability to interpret and apply knowledge of laws, regulations, and procedures, generally accepted accounting principles, technical and professional standards
